British Airways is generally an okay airline - for a long-haul flight, they provide what you would expect and nothing more. They define average service. However, the tickets are expensive and the way they treat special needs customers (disabled and elderly) is deplorable. A group of us were stranded in Heathrow for over two hours waiting for BA staff to call for wheelchairs to take us to a different terminal... where we were abandoned again and almost missed our connecting flight (others DID miss their connection).

Also, you cannot pre-book seats (even for passengers with disabilities and special needs), so there is a cattle call at check-in, the likes of which you would expect on a $20 short-haul flight with a budget airline but not on a $2,000 flight with British Airways. You can't even call and pre-book a seat if you have a documented medical need (despite what the website says). The entire process is ridiculous and unnecessary.

All that being said, the lone bright spot for BA is that their cabin crew are very friendly and more than accommodating for whatever you may need. The same can't be said for BA's call centre reps (especially when you're trying to pre-book a seat) but the in-flight crew get 5 stars.

If there were another option across the Atlantic (UK --> Baltimore) I would never fly British Airways again. We can't wait for the Open Skies Agreement to come into effect.

My first BA flight out of many. Unfortunately, this started off badly with the charges placed on my overweight baggage. The amount of weight I had now was less than what I originally travelled with. Other airlines allowed the my formerly heavy baggage through.

Take off was a bit odd. It felt like the pilot was unsure when to lift off. Landing was equally as uncomfortable.
